Finger Food

Finger food can be easier for children to eat especially as they're often balancing their lunchbox on their lap.  We sometimes forget children like simple food & in smaller serves than adults. As kids are usually in a hurry to play with their friends, smaller pieces can often mean that at least some of the lunch is eaten!

Finger Food Ideas

These are sure to put a smile on any child's face. Try some of them this week!
- Sushi comes in many forms. Try Sushi balls, Brushi, or Cucumber Sushi

- Dried Apple Crisps - great alternative for kids who may struggle to eat a whole apple
- Savoury bread - can be loaded with vegies & cut into pieces

- cooked pasta with chunks of cheese & bite size pieces of vegies like broccoli or beans

Tip

Your kids don't like salad? Try presenting a colourful 'help yourself' fun finger food salad plate. A kid friendly salad cut in sticks can be more appealing than a tossed one & it can be easier to eat. Consider serving as a snack plate while waiting for dinner.

Did you know...

Presenting foods in different ways can be all it takes for children to try foods they would otherwise say no to. These Ravioli Flowers are a great example. You can be sure the green capsicum & tomatoes will be eaten as they munch their way through this bed of pasta flowers. Try & be creative with some of the foods you are encouraging your children to eat. It just may do the trick!
