Garden Guru

Garden Giggle:

Q: What vegetable is always cold?

A: A chilli

Keeping plastic out of the school garden.

Composting the organic waste from Crunch&Sip is a great achievement and will nourish your school garden, but worms don’t like plastic.

  • Remind parents and students to peel the plastic sticker off fruit before it gets packed in the lunchbox.
  • Get students to make a giant sticker ball that can be recycled with soft plastics.
  • Have the compost monitors remove any stray plastic from the compost bin and garden.

Fortunately, plastic stickers are being phased out but until then let's remind the school community to leave stickers off their fruit and enjoy their Crunch&Sip.
