Join a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon and increase the visibility of women

Just under 20% of the people profiled on Wikipedia are women, critically skewing perceptions about their contributions to society. Franklin Women are determined to boost the profiles for women in STEMM with Wikipedia Edit-a-thons. Previous Edit-a-thons have created 51 new pages and updated 110 pages to help women in STEMM get the recognition they deserve. Register for the next free event on 24 July

Solving mysteries of the human microbiome

The ecosystem of microbes that live in the human body can impact everything from depression and anxiety, to organ function, allergies, weight, and immunity. Dr Emily Hoedt's work, which is supported by a grant from the Office for Health and Medical Research, involves the use of microbial clinical samples and computer-generated analyses to explore how different microbes grow and interact with human cells. 

Delivering e-Health therapy to people with traumatic brain injury

Dr Diane Whiting has developed an e-Health program tailored to improving the mental wellbeing of people with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury. Infrastructure needs for the research have been supported by a Medical Research Support Program grant awarded to the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. 

Trailblazing Aboriginal health leaders focus of recent CVRN 2024 event

Uncle Michael West invited Australians to respect and learn from Aboriginal perspectives during the CVRN 2024 Showcase event that had the theme 'First Nations heart health: healing and strength for the future'. The evening included Aboriginal health leaders and NSW Health representatives discussing collaborative projects in Aboriginal communities.

Medical research institutes invited to apply for $160 million in NSW Government support

Heading into its fourth round, the Medical Research Support Program aims to support excellence in health and medical research by funding the indirect costs of research, such as equipment and support staff. Applications for the program, which is administered by the Office of Health and Medical Research, close on 17 July

Are you an expert working in advanced therapeutics?

Submit interest in joining the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network Advanced Therapeutics Expert Resource Network.

The network will consist of a pool of experts available to provide guidance, support, and advice for various sub-projects within the SCHN Kids Advanced Therapeutics program. These sub-projects include, but are not limited to:
- education and training,
- health system readiness,
- consumer engagement/patient advocacy, and;
- streamlining the setup of clinical trials related to advanced therapeutics.

Submit an EOI to the Program Manager, Ms Asra Gholami, via email at Asra.Gholami@health.nsw.gov.au, including: 
- a brief introduction of your expertise and experience
- specific areas of interest or specialisation
- an indication of how much time you can spare.
