Welcome to the first edition of the GoodSAM community newsletter. We aim to keep you updated about how your involvement continues to make a real impact by sharing success stories, updates, and ways you can stay connected. Thank you for continuing to be an active part of the NSW GoodSAM community. By being ready to help in a cardiac emergency, you’re already making a life-saving difference in your community. |

While working at Sydney Airport, GoodSAM volunteer Dane Henderson received a notification about a cardiac arrest nearby. He quickly arrived at a cafe, where Ferdinand (pictured here with his daughter) needed chest compressions. Thanks to Dane’s swift actions, Ferdinand received the immediate care he needed and survived.
Did you know: Sydney Airport has one of the best outcomes for cardiac arrest patients, as staff are trained in CPR and AEDs are easily available.

| In recent months, the GoodSAM team has been busy connecting with the community and inspiring more people to get involved.
We had a fantastic time at the NRL Emergency Services match between the Sydney Roosters and Canberra Raiders on 1 September, as well as at Restart a Heart Day on 16 October at Parramatta Farmers Market.
Both events were perfect opportunities to raise awareness about bystander CPR and the life-saving role that GoodSAM volunteers play. Thank you to everyone who connected with us and showed their support for CPR education. |

Quick tips to keep in mind |
|
|
Ensure your location is set to "Always" allow, and turn on "Critical alerts" for the GoodSAM app. |
|
For every minute a person in cardiac arrest does not receive chest compressions (CPR), their chances of survival drop by 7-10%. |
| Encourage others to join GoodSAM – more volunteers mean more lives saved in our community. |
