Showcasing Australia’s collaborative approach to research at BIO 2025
In June, the Office for Health and Medical Research highlighted Australia’s collaborative research culture and hosted a breakfast panel at the 2025 BIO International Convention in Boston, USA. Led by Anne O’Neill, Director of Commercialisation and Strategic Partnerships at the Office, the panel explored emerging advances in proteomics and genomics in oncology. The 2025 NSW Health and Medical Research Prospectus was launched at the event. It showcases NSW’s strengths and capabilities in health and medical research.

NSW Health hosts Clinical Trials Summit to strengthen partnerships
On 20 May, NSW Health hosted the Clinical Trials Summit at Parliament House to coincide with International Clinical Trials Day. The event brought together over 100 strategic leaders and national organisations involved in clinical trials, representing diverse sectors across the system. The Summit provided clear input into NSW Health’s clinical trials programs and helped clarify roles and responsibilities of other organisations in shaping a stronger, more connected clinical trials ecosystem.

The NSW Health Commercialisation Training Program: turning ideas into impact
A recent evaluation of the Program has shown it delivers strong returns - generating $20.53 for $1 invested. Since launching in 2014, the Program has equipped NSW researchers and entrepreneurs with the skills to translate medical discoveries into real-world products and successful companies. As the first program of its kind in Australia, it has since inspired similar initiatives across the country. | |
