Reinvigorate Crunch&Sip at your School |
|
|
Only 1 in 16 children eat the recommended daily serve of vegetables. Crunch&Sip is an established initiative to help children to develop regular healthy eating habits by providing a set time in class to eat vegetables and fruit and drink water.
Your school may or may not already participate in Crunch&Sip or a fruit break. To kick start or refresh the initiative at your school we’re offering FREE hard copy and online resources via the links below. We’ll deliver these to your school for the start of Term 3 2023. |

Vaping Prevention - Have your say |
|
|
Our team is looking to support schools on the rising issue of e-cigarette use among students. While we understand these issues are mostly facing high schools, we recognise that primary schools may play a role in preparing students for exposure to vaping. We would therefore love your input! See below for how to have your say and please share with other staff in your school. |

|
In Focus - Move and Improve Workshop |
|
|
In term 1 our team were very excited to offer our first face-to-face Move & Improve physical activity workshops since 2019! The workshops targeted the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills through physical activity and were led by guest presenter and former PE teacher Sarah Riddington.
We can happily say the workshops were a great success, providing a wonderful opportunity for teachers to come together, connect and learn new PDHPE strategies. Our team will be offering more Move & Improve workshops in Term 3, stay tuned for more information! |

Kids Gardening: Create a Wishing Tree - Wellbeing Garden Activity Use paper and eco string to create a wishing tree in your school garden. Encourage students to consider their goals and dreams or alternatively, they can wish something for others, and practice empathy and goodwill.
Asking kids to think about their hopes and dreams within their personal sphere is a great way for them to set goals, share needs, and hone their identities. Focusing their intentions toward the larger world invites them to think about their personal choices and actions that impact others, environmentalism, and social activism. |

We all know that break time at school is an important time for students to relax, recharge and develop physical and social skills. Do you know how students view their play spaces? Are all students engaged and happy with their break time experiences? To find out: Ask anonymously via an online survey, ballot box, sticky note board. Questions that can be asked: - Are there any play space you wish to have more of?
- How would you like the spaces to be?
- What’s wrong with the current play spaces?
- Three wishes for your play spaces?
-
Or students can draw & describe your preferred playground.
See playground survey guides provided by NSLHD School Years Team. |
