Celebrating 10 years of the NSW Health Commercialisation Training Program

NSW’s leading medical research innovators have been celebrated at an event to mark the 10th anniversary of the Commercialisation Training Program. Minister for Medical Research David Harris delivered the keynote address at the event hosted by delivery partner Cicada Innovations. The Program supports researchers, scientists, clinicians and entrepreneurs to turn their cutting edge work and ideas into optimal health outcomes for patients.  

Developing a novel vaccine to treat Urinary Tract Infections

A new research project led by Professor Iain Duggin from UTS, has been approved to develop a novel vaccine targeting UTIs. The vaccine will employ mRNA technology similar to that used in COVID-19 vaccines. Funding has been provided through a Medical Research Future Fund Global Health Initiative grant. Support is also being provided by other partners, including the Office for Health and Medical Research.

Nominations now open: 2024 NSW Ministerial Awards for Cardiovascular Research

The Ministerial Awards for Cardiovascular Research are presented annually to recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to research in cardiovascular diseases, including diabetes, stroke and renal disease. Nominations are now open for 2024 Ministerial Awards for Cardiovascular Research, which will be presented on 27 February 2025. 

Nominations close 18 November at 5pm AEDT. 

The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering announces new Fellows for 2024

The Academy has announced 32 new Fellows, showcasing the breath and depth of Australian innovation. The health technologies sector is well represented by these new Fellows, including Anne O'Neill, Director of Enterprise, International Partnerships, and Clinical Trials at the Office for Health and Medical Research. She has been recognised for her contribution to transforming NSW’s health and medical research sector.

Expressions of Interest for the NSW Health Aboriginal Heart Health Grants are now open

The Office for Health and Medical Research invites eligible individuals to apply for the Aboriginal Heart Health Grants. The Grants will fund high impact Aboriginal-led research that will improve the cardiovascular health of Aboriginal peoples and build capacity of Aboriginal communities and researchers in cardiovascular focused health research within NSW.

Winners of Research Administrators Awards 2024 announced

Since 2015, 25 September has been the official globally recognised National Research Administrator Day. The importance the role plays and its enormous contribution to health research is sometimes overlooked. This year, the Office for Health and Medical Research celebrated the crucial work of Research Administrators by creating the NSW Health Administrator Awards. Award winners were announced on 27 September at an NSW Ethics and Governance Roundtable, which was also a networking event. 

Finalists announced for the NSW Health Awards 2024

Join us in recognising the dedicated staff and volunteers enriching health across NSW. The NSW Health Awards ceremony will take place on 24 October at ICC Sydney, and will be livestreamed from 6pm. Celebrating its 26th year, the event honours outstanding health programs, including virtual care initiatives that enhance access for rural and multicultural communities.
